Damary is a resident of Kitale in Western Kenya where she lives with her family of three children who are between 14 and 7 years old. She runs a retail shop to supplement her farming business to provide her family with basic needs. She has been in farming for 20 years and currently produces maize, milk and horticultural products.
Damary has requested a loan of 45,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to build a greenhouse, which she will use to boost her horticultural farming business. She believes this improved farming will provide enough income to meet the family's basic needs.
Damary, however, points to a lack of adequate rain and the fluctuation in market prices as the major challenges.
