You Y is 50 years old. She is a mother of three children and resides with her husband in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. She has been selling porridge, Khmer noodles, and pancakes for more than ten years, earning approximately $12 per day. Her husband runs a taxi service (motor taxi). He earns about $4 per day. In order to improve her family’s finances, You Y is requesting a loan of $1,200 to purchase rice to resell for a profit. By doing so, she will earn extra income to support the family. In the future, she would like to expand her business and help her children earn bachelors degrees. Moreover, she hopes to rebuild her present house to make it bigger and more comfortable for her family.
