Lilia is a 55-year-old resident of Sto. Niño, Tukuran. She has provided the needs of her 5 children from the little amount of 8,000 PHP she has been earning monthly from her fish vending business for 12 years. Her business is an aid to the income earned by her husband who does fishing. However, this year she joined GDMPC and she is applying for a loan of 10,000 PHP from GDMPC to purchase fishing equipment including hooks & nets. Lilia wants to expand her business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
