Julius, age 23, is a farmer in the Kitale area of Western Kenya. He has been involved in mixed farming for five years, producing and selling maize and milk to the local market.
Julius has requested a loan of 31,200 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow. This is his first loan request with Juhudi Kilimo and remains optimistic he will be able to grow his family farming business and rank among the leading milk suppliers for the local market in the future.
Julius says the high cost of animal feed and rampant diseases have been his major challenges since he became an active farmer. He remains appreciative of Juhudi Kilimo's support of smaller-size farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
