Kimsan is 60 years old and a married mother of four children. She lives with her family in a rural area located in the Ponhea Krek district where crop farming is a common way to earn a living. She is a rice farmer who has been in this business for several years, and she supplements her income by buying and selling fertilizers and dry fish. With her current source of income, she is able to earn around 39,500 KHR per day to spend on daily expenses.
This is the first loan for Kimsan with VisionFund. To support her business, she is requesting a loan to buy fertilizers for sale and use a portion of it to spend on rice farming. She hopes to make more rice and earn income from her business and improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
