For the past 12 years Hortencia has had a private business making clothes, which has given good results. As she is separated from her husband, she is responsible for her children and this business is her way of life. She works alone as her customers like her work and prefer her, so this ensures better quality. She makes all kinds of clothing such as shirts, suits, dresses and uniforms, depending on what her customers request.
Hortencia says that she lives alone now as her children are adults and have their own families. Right now her main problem is the competition she has, and she therefore gives the best service so that her customers return. She plans to use the loan to buy construction materials to improve her home.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
