Luis Fernando
Luis is 28 years old. He lives in the town of Cartagena and he is the owner of a bread bakery. He sells baked goods made from wheat flour auch as sweet bread, cheese bread, filled pastries, pudding, etc. The bakery was opened in 2000 but was only acquired by Luis in 2006 when the prior owners sold it so they could go live with family in Barranquilla. Luis saw the opportunity and bought it with the support of his family and some savings. He also a a the base of great experience with family businesses, which he has participated in according to tradition. While he runs his business he is also studying economics courses at the university and now it is his major. His goal is to convert this business unit in a specialized source of income, putting into practice everything he has learned at the university. He wants to become a better and better businessman and a job creator. Right now he is applying for a Kiva loan which he will use to buy an oven and raw materials in a greater volume, to earn discounts and start the process of diversifying his products. He is eager to start making pita bread and diet products, which are very much in demand in hostals, hotels and in general for tourists. Luis de 28 años de edad, vive en el municipio de Cartagena y es el propietario de una panadería donde vende productos derivados de la harina de trigo, como panes de dulce, de queso, rellenos, pudines, etc, panadería que inició desde el año 2000, pero que solo hasta el año 2006, fue adquirida por Luis, debido a que sus antiguos propietarios se la vendieron, para reunirse con sus familiares en la ciudad de Barranquilla. Luis viendo esta oportunidad, la compró apoyado por sus familiares y con unos ahorros, teniendo además como base su gran experiencia en los negocios familiares, en los que tradicionalmente había participado. Con su negocio simultáneamente cursó estudios de economía en la universidad y ahora se encuentra especializándose. Su meta es convertir esta unidad de negocios, en una fuente especializada de ingresos, poniendo en práctica todo lo aprendido en la universidad, pues quiere ser cada vez más, un mejor empresario y generador de empleos. En la actualidad está aplicando a un credikiva, con el cual comprará un horno y materias primas en mayor volumen, para ganar descuentos e iniciar un proceso de diversificación de sus productos, pues está entusiasmado en elaborar pan árabe y productos de dieta, que son muy apetecidos en los hostales, hoteles y en general el sector turístico, que se encuentra en crecimiento y esto es una gran oportunidad de invertir y hacer de su credikiva todo una inversión de éxito.
