Margarita is a 55-year-old married woman with two children living in Balintawak, Aurora, Zambo. Del Sur. In order to make additional income for the family, she entered into a business planting & harvesting flowers for sale seven years ago. Margarita usually earns 5,500 PHP a month. Margarita joined GDMPC in 2011 and she borrowed 8,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. She was able to improve her business because of the money rendered to her. Someday, she’s hoping for much greater revenue to expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
