Sokchheng is 34 years old and married with one boy and one girl who are both still in school. To make a living, Sokchheng and her husband do rice farming and grow cassava. Her family makes less than 10 US dollar per day on average. Sokchheng has been with VisionFund for three loan cycles already and now she is requesting another loan to buy fertilizers and seedlings and to spend on land preparation. The previous loans from VisionFund have helped to feed her family better and pay her children's school fees. She hopes the requested loan will enable her to make more income so that she can expand her business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
