Evangeline is a 49-year-old widow with four children from Yahong, Tudela, Misamis Occidental. In order to make a living, Evangeline owns and operates a business venture. The business venture consists of planting and harvesting coconuts for sell. Evangeline has been in her business for 5 years and earns 12,000 PHP a month for these activities.
In 2008, Evangeline joined GDMPC. She is requesting a loan of 16,100 PHP, which will be used to purchase fertilizer and to pay for labor cost for farm maintenance. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
