Chie is 61 years old and a resident of the Prey Chor district. Her family's main business is rice farming and Chie can earn a suitable living to raise her family. She spends most of her time working in the fields to ensure a high crop production, especially in the rainy season. Being a responsible mother, Chie is determined to ensure a good future for her children. Four of her children are already married and the remaining one is still single.
Chie is requesting a loan from HKL, a long-standing Kiva partner, to purchase a motorcycle for home use. This will provide good transportation services for her family and allow them to go anywhere they wish to go. Chie's business goal is to expand the size of her land and thereby increase her income.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
