Moeun is 37 years old, an industrious woman from Baray district, Kompong Tom province. She has a common relationship with her husband and has a single child attending school. She is in the business of cultivating rice for income. Her husband has an animal-trading business. He buys and sells animals in a local market of the province and earns a good income.
In order to maintain and support in her husband’s business, Moeun decided to borrow some funds to supplement her capital to buy six head of cattle for trading in the future. She mentioned that the loan will help her improve the family-owned business, and she hopes that she will be successful in managing the business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
