She also feels at ease in the communal bank group she belongs to, which motivates her to continue to participate. She also says that the training imparted during group meetings has helped her to better invest in her business. Viña del Mar is a city and commune situated in the middle of the Chilean coastline; it is known as 'the Garden City' because of the gardens and courtyards displayed by some of the antique buildings in the city. It is also deemed the tourist capital of Chile.

Patricia forma parte del Banco Comunal “Todos Juntos“ perteneciente a la ciudad de Viña del Mar.
Ella se dedica al rubro de venta de verduras, desde hace 3 años. Trabaja en un local que instalo en su casa, trabaja todos los días, a veces le ayuda su hijo.
Comenta que sus insumos los compra en la feria, y otras veces los compra en distribuidoras de abastecimiento en verduras, ya que son lugares en los cuales encuentra su mercadería a bajo costo, por lo tanto conviene económicamente.
Con el crédito comprará mercadería.
Una de sus metas es poder terminar su local para atender a su clientela en forma ordenada.
Patricia vive junto a su marido, un hijo y un nieto, sus sueños a nivel familiar son terminar su local para una mejor calidad de vida y así poder aumentar sus ingresos.

About Fondo Esperanza

Fondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
