Maria
View original language description ↓
María Z. is 28 years old and has been married for 8 years to Alexis Gómez, who is 36. The couple have two children; one is 6 years old and in 1st grade in a school in the city and the younger one is a year old.

For the past 4 years Alexis has been working in Spain and comes once a year to visit his family. María says that this is a painful situation as she struggles to raise her two small daughters by herself. Alexis sends money from his job every month. He emigrated to Spain in search of work since there were few job opportunities in Paraguay and he was forced to take extreme measures to get ahead.

With the money her husband sent, María set up a general store in her house. In this way she generates extra income without having to leave home and without neglecting her children, who are still small.

Since the income from the store is good, María would like to invest more into it and for this reason, she is asking for a loan with which to buy a greater quantity and variety of merchandise, such as: handbags, candles, wallets, toys, shoes, jewelry, cushions, vases, sheets, and other things that her customers have requested on various occasions.
