Alexander is fifty-six years old. He lives in a small village in Imereti Region, West Georgia with his wife, Inga. Inga and Alexander earn a living through agriculture. They run a dairy farm with two milk cows. The family uses the milk to produce traditional Georgian cheese. They sell on average 40 kg of this product on the local open market. Along with the dairy farm, Alexander is busy with melon growing. He grows melons on the family-owned one hectare of land and sells on average seven tones of melons to local greengrocery retailers. Also Alexander owns a tractor. He provides various agricultural services (tilling, moving) to neighborhood farmers and is paid for this service. The total average monthly income of the family is 500 Laris.
Alexander requested credit to purchase wheels for the tractor. He has to change the old wheels, as they are already damaged and Alexander had to stop using the tractor because of them. After changing the wheels he will continue working and get again the income. In the future Alexander plans to make some savings, to reinvest in the family farm.
