Jeanpierre is the coordinator of the "Union de Senzidor" group. He lives in the northern part of Haiti, where electricity is scarce and the water supply very limited. He has managed his own goat sales business for the past three years. Before being involved in this activity, he used to be a teacher.

Jeanpierre would like to use his loan to buy goats for resale. He hopes that this loan will help him expand his business. Other members of the "Union de Senzidor" group need a loan to finance other activities such as food retail businesses or cosmetic and charcoal sales businesses.

Jeanpierre says that his main challenge is the lack of regular customers. Selling merchandise on credit also poses difficulties. His dream, he says, is to obtain a larger loan from Esperanza in order to expand his business.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
