Aged 40 years old, Chanthon is a mother of four children and lives in a rural area of the Ponhea Krek district. She has two daughters and two sons and some of them are working as garment workers for pay to hep support the family. She is a peasant who plants cassava as primary source of family's income and she supplements her income by selling grocery to gain extra income. She has been in her primary business for ten years to make a living.

Chanthon has been with VisionFund for three loan cycles and she completely paid back the past loans which has helped her increase her family's income. She currently earns around 169,900 KHR from her current business. With her successful business, she is now leading the other two villagers who has been with VisionFund for from one to three loan cycles to apply for another loan with VisionFund for their respective purposes. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer and seedlings for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her cassava crops and earn a larger income.

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
