Wellen is a married man aged 40 years old with four children. Two of his children attend school. Wellen is an agriculturalist who specializes in milling millet and cassava. He works 7 days of the week and earns an average income of 300,000/- per month. He supplements his farming income with income from a saloon and from charging phones using solar energy since his village does not have power. He charges only 500 UGX (five hundred Ugandan shillings) for each phone that is charged and charges at least six phones each day.
Wellen is not borrowing for the first time, his previous loan was 2,000,000 UGX, which he used to buy a milling machine. This time he has applied for UGX 3,000,000(Three Million uganda shillings) so that she can buy a motorcycle, which will be used as a 'boda boda' for transport business. The motorcycle will supplement his family income and he will be able to meet his other daily obligations.
His major challenge has been lack of enough capital to buy fuel for the milling machines since petrol and diesel are very expensive in Uganda, making it very hard for him to meet his customers' needs.
He is grateful to UGAFODE beause the loans have helped him to attain assets like the milling machine and the motorcycle he intends to buy He describes himself as very hard working and honest.
