Jhon Alexander's story

Jhon is 23 years old. He is a very hard-working young man who has a lot of enthusiasm and a contagious level of optimism. He lives in the city of Pisco which has beautiful beaches and tourist attractions that win over the hearts of visitors. These attractions include the Ballestas Islands and the Candelabra of the Andes (a prehistoric geoglyph). People in the area farm and fish. On weekends, or whenever he has a little free time, Jhon enjoys playing football with his friends and neighbors. He also enjoys eating one of his favorite dishes: delicious ceviche (a fish dish marinated in citrus juice) together with a glass of pisco (grape brandy). Jhon tells us that he only completed his secondary education but he would have liked to have gone on to study for a degree in business.

From morning til night, Jhon works in his business selling food. He works around 10 hours a day and can serve up to 40 customers. He believes that his business is doing well because the dishes he prepares are very tasty and so his customers are happy with what he sells.

Jhon is very happy and grateful to receive the help that Kiva lenders have offered him. Thanks to their help, he will be able to make some improvements to his premises, painting, tiling and plastering over some small cracks. This will improve the condition of the premises in which he serves his customers and he will be able to provide a better service. He will also be able to continue working hard so that he can accomplish his biggest dream: to own his own home and study for a business degree.
