Lia is a farmer from a village in Gardabani district, East Georgia. She is unmarried and lives with her 82-year-old mother. Lia is the only income provider for the family. She takes care of a milk cow and produces 20 kg of cheese per month on average. She sells it in the village to local dairy products retailers. Lia also grows maize on family-owned 1.5 hectares of land. She sells the harvested maize during the year in the village. The total average monthly income of the family is 350 laris, including the pension of Lia’s mother.
Lia requested credit to rent a tractor for tilling the land. She will sow the maize and work hard on the plot during the spring and summer to get a good harvest in late summer. She will sell the corn and use the profit for financing the family's daily needs.
