Alicia is a young married woman with two children. Her husband works as a taxi driver serving the public. She has a business selling chicken in a market in her area. She has worked in this business for ten years, with the goals of helping her husband and providing a better life for her two children, who are still small. It was her mother who taught her to work hard to be independent. In her work she has achieved many things, such as being able to buy some appliances for her home. This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
