Najwa, 48, is a widowed Lebanese woman living with her three children, two of whom are working. Due to the high cost of living, they’re all joining forces to cover at least their necessities.
Najwa has been working preparing food for special events since 2008. She works from her home upon her customers’ demands.
Today, Najwa is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase new kitchen tools and increase her food provisions. She really wishes for a better future for her children and she thinks that this Kiva loan will increase her profits, thus improving her standard of living. In the future, she plans to open her own restaurant.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
