Winnie is a single woman with a single child who is in school. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. She operates a salon and has been doing so for the last three years. She also sells clothes as her side business, where she sells clothes door-to-door mostly to her neighbors. Seasonality is her major drawback and she dreams of opening a boutique in the future. With the loan of 50,000 KES, she intends to purchase clothes for sale.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
