For the last ten years, to meet the various household needs, Julienne has been selling liqueur and other items from home. She gets her supplies at a market in Benin. She contributes to the various household expenses with the revenue generated by her activity.

In order to meet her ever-increasing customer demand, Julienne, along with the other members of the Yemalin group, is requesting a second loan from ALIDé. The previous loan was fully reimbursed.

Le groupement YEMALIN est composé de douze personnes qui résident dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupement du nom de Julienne est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Julienne est âgée de 36 ans et vit au Bénin. Julienne n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Julienne est mariée à un certain Gildas. Le couple a quatre enfants à leur charge dont trois représentent leurs propres enfants. Julienne vit ensemble avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges de la maison. Pour répondre aux divers besoins de la maison, Julienne vend des liqueurs et autres articles à son domicile depuis une dizaine d’années. Julienne s’approvisionne dans un marché du Benin. Grâce aux revenus que lui génèrent ces activités, Julienne contribue aux différentes dépenses de sa maison. Pour satisfaire aux besoins de sa clientèle de plus en plus grandissante, Julienne sollicite pour une deuxième fois un crédit auprès de ALIDé ensemble avec les autres membres du groupement YEMALIN. Le crédit reçu antérieurement a été bien remboursé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
