Mwanalima is a married woman with two children, both of whom are in school. She operates a grocery where she sells her goods from home, mostly to her neighbors. Mwanalima has been operating this business for the last three years and she aspires to open a kiosk in the future. She faces a challenge of market competition and describes food and school fees to be her greatest monthly expenses. With the Ksh 20000 loan, she will be able to purchase onions, tomatoes, fruits and vegetables to resell.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
