Laure is a 48-year-old Lebanese woman. She’s married and lives with her husband and two school-aged children. She cooperates with her husband to be able to satisfy their needs and pay their children’s study fees. For this reason, she strives to work really hard and opened her own grocery shop in 2005. She has a wide variety of goods and products, and she also has a fair number of loyal customers. Today, she’s asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase additional products for her shop such as soft drinks, dairy products, and many other items. She notes that this loan will increase her sales; therefore, her profit. In the future, she plans to open her own mini-market.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
