Emma is 41 years old, married and the mother of six children. She lives with her family in Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Misamis Occidental, Philippines, where she earns a living by selling seafood products such as fish and shrimp to people who live in her community. She has been in this line of work for 18 years, and earns PHP 13,800 a month. She is requesting a loan for PHP 15,000 to buy nets and other accessories for her boat. Emma is been a member of GDMPC for a year, and her goals for the future are to build a house and pay for her children's education.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
