Reynaldo is single and does not have children. He lives in a just a small room in his grandparents’ house. The house is in the San Pedro area of the city of La Paz.
He currently gets income because he works as an assistant for two lawyers. He needs the loan for the production of his postgraduate thesis.
At the present time he is studying law at the university. However, what he earns for working over ten hours is not enough to pay for his studies and also cover the expenses of food, basic services, and doctors for his grandparents.
Reynaldo’s dream is to become independent and to have an office in order to have his own clients. This way he will improve his income and his quality of life.
This is the first time that he has requested a loan from IMPRO and Kiva.
IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.
To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
