Teresa, 43, lives with her husband, Jesús. They’ve been coffee growers for more than 15 years. At the beginning they worked for others and that’s how they learned what was necessary and saved up enough money to buy a piece of land and start to plant and harvest their own coffee. They have three children who also help them in the farm. Because the economic situation in the region where they live is a bit difficult, Teresa’s husband works occasionally for others in order to earn extra family income.

Currently, Teresa produces two tons annually. However, she knows that with effort and dedication in three years she can reach a total production of five tons and this is why she needs a loan because she needs to buy coffee plants and manure because many of the plant she now has are old and don’t produce good yields anymore.

Teresa and her husband would like their children to study professional careers in the future since they themselves were unable to have this opportunity when they were young because of economic reasons.
