Rosa is married and has four children. She lives in the town of Achacachi, where she works nine hours a day as a farmer and livestock breeder. For this reason, she is requesting a loan so that she can buy a pair of dairy cows to raise her milk production volume. This will increase her income so that she can support her family. Her husband is an ambulance driver and does not earn much money, so she is solely responsible for obtaining what is needed to cover the family expenses, such as food and an education for her children.

Rosa only has an elementary school education. The house in which she lives is made of adobe and has dirt floors. She does not have medical insurance. Her dream is to improve her quality of life and have more cattle so that she can generate a better income to help pay for her children's education.

This is the first time Rosa has worked IMPRO and Kiva.

Additional Information

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
