Myriam Fabiola
Myriam is married and has four children. Since her husband’s income is not enough to cover all of the household expenses, she decided to start her own business to contribute financially. It was this way that she started he own workshop where she makes clothing for other people and in this way generates some income that allows her to have a better quality of life in her home. She has not had the workshop for very long, since her children are still very young and she must care for then, however in the short time that she has been working in her workshop she has managed to bring in steady customers and good orders, thanks to the quality of her work.

In order to respond to a large order from one of her customers, Myrium is asking for a loan that will allow her to buy supplies and materials, such a s fabric, thread, and other things to make a line of sports clothing to fill an order for a customer.

In this way she can continue doing good work in her workshop and providing good service to her customers. This will allow her to grow her business a little more. Myriam also hopes that her income will grow steadily in this manner, allowing her to provide her children and husband with a better quality of life and better opportunities to get ahead financially.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
