The “Las Frescas” group is composed of three hardworking people from Ciudad Sandino, Managua. The group coordinator is Dominga del Carmen who sells nacatamales [Nicaraguan style tamales] on weekends and fast food, a popular eatery consisting in fried food like enchiladas, grilled meat, roasted chicken, fried plantain with cheese, etc. She will use the loan to buy raw materials like meat, chicken, corn, pork, perishables, etc.
The other group members are Esmeralda de Jesús who has sold food to nearby firms for six years and Edwin who has been selling used clothes, shoes, etc. for six years.
El grupo Las frescas lo conforman tres personas trabajadoras quienes son de Ciudad Sandino, Managua. La coordinadora del grupo es Dominga del Carmen quien se dedica a la venta de nacatamales los fines de semana y fritanga, restaurante popular que consiste en comida frita como enchiladas, carne asada, pollo asado, tajadas con queso…etc. El crédito lo invertirá en la compra de materia prima carne, pollo, maíz, cerdo, perecederos…etc.
Los otros integrantes son Esmeralda de Jesús quien se dedica a la venta de comida desde hace 6 años comercializando en las empresas aledañas y Edwin quien vende ropa usada, zapatos…etc. desde hace 6 años.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
