Fatima is 32 years old and lives in the town of Zana in the Kampala west region of Uganda. She is single and has six children, four of whom are currently in school. For the past 13 years, Fatima has been working hard to manage her small business, which sells fruits.

To help expand her business, Fatima has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fruits for resale, and will help Fatima to generate greater profits and increase her capital. Fatima hopes that in the future she will be able to open up another branch of the same business.

Fatima is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Fatima who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
