Barrio Nuevo Huictepec Group
In this Group: Ofelia, Victorina, Aurea, Eulogia Agustina
This group is named Barrio Nuevo Huixtepec. The members decided to give it this name because it is the name of their community, of which all of them are members.

The story is about Aurea, age 61. She is a single mother of six children, who are now all married. She has devoted herself to making and selling bread for over 20 years. She decided to start with this business because her mother devoted herself to this business activity. Her mother was the one who taught her.

Also, she wanted to look for a way to get her children ahead and improve her family’s quality of life. She will use the loan she received to buy more ingredients like eggs, lard, sugar, flour, yeast, and cinnamon, etc. This way she will continue making her delicious bread.

Aurea says she is very happy because her business is going very well for her. Her sales have increased quite a lot as well as her customers and income. They have increased so much that she is even saving in order to assure her financial future.

The goal that she has for her business is to continue investing because she wants to make it grow more. She is thinking of building another oven in order to accelerate her production and to make it easier. This way she will improve and increase her income.

She is very grateful to the Fundación Realidad and the Kiva lenders for the whole-hearted support they are giving her. Thanks to this help she has improved her quality of life and that of her family.

These are the names of the people and the business activities of the members of the group. Ofelia, Victoriana, Aurea, Cecilia, and Eulogia devote themselves to different business activities like groceries, selling food, embroidery, and a bakery.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
