View original language description ↓
Marcia M. C. is originally from Chinandega city, living in the Villanueva area in her own home with her husband and her two small children. Her husband holds a job typical of this area, that of farmer raising his own cattle with which he earns his living to support his family. Marcia has realized that upon seeing the poor condition of her home, she has begun investing in investing for construction materials and to be able to pay laborers. Today this construction has been halted due to lack of funds and therefore she has sought support from Ceprodel, who has supported her previously with loans for construction.

It must be noted that Marcia has been a faithful Ceprodel client, paying her loans on time and according to the agreed terms.

About CEPRODEL

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
