Kamu Kamu Group
In this Group: Salim, Edson, Lydia, Ibrahim, Fred, Patrick
Salim, a member of Kamu Kamu group is 30 years of age, married and has eight children. Six of his children attend school. He also takes care of two dependants because their parents are incapable of meeting their needs like school fees.

Salim rides a motorcycle to earn a living. He started this job in 2004 after failing to find employment and having to meet the growing needs of his family. Salim's major clients are people from the abattoir where he stages to the different directions where they deliver their supplies. Salim's dream is to venture into cattle trading if he gets enough capital. His major challenge is his health. Doctors told him he has developed pneumonia because of the wind from riding the motorcycle but since he has no other source of income, he has persisted. Salim is very hardworking and honest according to colleagues. He confided in me that if he had enough funds, he would be doing business instead of riding a motorcycle.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
