Gatasi is 52 years old and married with seven children. She runs a small business selling fish in her community and has been doing this for six years. Gatasi has requested a loan to buy fishing nets, fishing rods, hooks, and bait. She joined SPBD in 2006 to gain access to capital. Gatasi will use her profits to pay for her children's education.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
