Kroeun lives in Kandal province. She is 56 years old and a mother of eight. Two of her children are staying with the family. One of them is still in school; another one does not study and helps her do the housework and grow vegetables for selling.
Kroeun has been planting cabbage and green peppers for about 20 years. The income generated from selling all those vegetables is for supporting her family and affording her kid’s school fees.
Kroeun has been with VisionFund since 2011, and this is her second loan with VisionFund. She requested the loan to buy vegetable seeds. Kroeun strongly hopes that this loan enables her to grow good-quality vegetables so that she can sell them for a good price, and as a result, her family can live happily and in better conditions.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
