Mwanajuma is a married woman with three children, two of whom are enrolled in school. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. She sells firewood and charcoal from home; her primary customers are her neighbors. Mwanajuma joined Yehu to get enough capital for her business. She aspires to hire employees in the future.
She plans to use the loan of 20,000 Kenyan shillings (KES) to buy sacks of charcoal and bundles of firewood.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
