Young Alejandro Jose is a native of El Sauce. He is a tenacious youth who is committed to his family because he is married. He has always worked in retail trade to support his household.
His business is a bicycle workshop where he sells spare parts for bikes. His workshop is located in his house, which is where he has had the business for a number of years. In his town, he is well known for his friendliness and honesty.
This is the 4th loan that he has requested from Ceprodel. He will invest the money in his business, purchasing rims, tires, inner tubes, ball bearings, chains and gear selectors, because the demand for his products is increasing and he can't keep up with it with the capital he has on hand. He hopes that with the support of this loan, he will be able to satisfy his customer's demands and in this way generate more income so that he can cover all of his household expenses and eventually build his own home.
This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.
