Mrs. Kan P., age 53, is a mother of seven children, five of whom still live at home. She stays at home, looks after the children and cooks for the family members. Her husband, Mr. Chem Chin, age 54, owns a plot of land growing rice and also raising buffalos, normally earning around $1 a day of profit.
Mrs. Kan P., who wants to make an income for the family, is requesting a loan from Kiva to purchase groceries to sell. With the remainder, she wants to hire a plot of farmland and grow yams to add more profits. This will allow the family to establish good living conditions.
