Susan is a 43-year old resident of Yahong, Tudela, Misamis Occidental. For the past 8 years, she has been supporting the needs of her 3 children with the small amount (PHP 8,000) she earns monthly from her own piggery business, helping her husband who makes money from laboring. In 2007, Susan became a member of GDMPC, and she is currently applying for a loan of 15,873 at GDMPC micro finance to buy feeding supplies. Susan wants to expand her business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
