She also sells charcoal, gasoline, etc. Her husband is an agent at a center for the disabled. She was introduced to the group by peers and later learned about the microcredit available through Hekima. She then took out her first loan of $50 to strengthen her business. The money she makes in her business goes toward savings, food, and her children's education. She is now on her 15th loan. Over this period, she has sold her artworks to clients, and has decided to increase her loan amount for this new cycle. This new loan will allow her to buy materials. Her difficulty in her business is breakage of materials. She wishes to see her children grow up and to buy a piece of land in the future. She thanks Hekima for helping low-income women gain autonomy.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
