Olivia lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has 6 children, all in school. She does not take care of additional family members. For the last 5 years, Olivia has operated a retail business selling charcoal from home. She works seven days a week. Olivia has requested a loan of 800,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO to buy more bags of charcoal. Her major business challenges are seasonality and thieves. Her goals and hopes are to become a wholesaler and to buy a plot of land to build rental rooms. Olivia lives in her own house and the family has access to electricity but not to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and feeding the family .
