Joyce lives in the coastal town of Malindi, Kenya. She is single and runs a transport business which has been in operation for five months. Besides this, she also sells clothes and is employed full time. She was introduced to Milango by one of her friends and is applying for a loan for 40,000 Kenyan shillings to buy items to sell in her boutique, including new clothes, handbags and other items. This is because during the rainy season, there is less motorcycle transport. Joyce has therefore decided to stock up in preparation for this. Her main challenge is that by being employed full time, there is little time to supervise her other businesses. Despite this, Joyce is optimistic that she can develop the businesses to a higher level for her future good. This will allow her to own more than one motorcycle and improve her living standards.
