Elene is a 57-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband. He's the one responsible for covering their needs, even though they’re both united and cooperative.
Elene started to work as a tailor from her home in 2003 after many years of experience in this domain. In parallel, she works as a tailor at one of the local companies. As for her husband, he owns a curtains shop.
Today, Elene is requesting to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a new sewing machine. This Kiva loan will facilitate her work and allow her to attract new customers. In the future, she plans to open her own evening dresses shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
