Maria Ysabel
Maria is a very tenacious woman who acts as mother and father for her 2 daughters: she provides for them alone, as their father has abandoned them. Since then, she works very hard every day to make them happy. She also lives close to her elderly parents, and she helps them a lot with the fruits of her job. She lives in Pisco, a town renowned for the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas Candelabrum, two tourist attractions that many people visit in order to enjoy their beauty and splendor. The town is also renowned for the kindness of its inhabitants and for its main economic activities, fishing and agriculture. As we say here in Peru, Maria is a very busy woman, doing many jobs: with deep determination she engages in her food selling activity, waking up very early to cook the dishes she offers. At the same time she tends to her soft drinks shop, and at night she sells beauty products. She works around 10 hours a day and she has around 20 customers. She believes her activities are going well because she is organized and because she tends to her customers in an affectionate way, almost like they were members of her family, and people appreciate her for this.

Maria is deeply grateful to Kiva lenders, because thanks to their help she will be able to buy more products for her soft drinks shop. She will buy fizzy drinks at wholesale price, thus succeeding in increasing her earnings and in improving her standard of living. In its turn, this will allow her to keep on fighting to make her biggest dream come true: “to offer a good education to her daughters”.
