Umazi is a married woman with 5 children. One is enrolled in school. She buys and sells goats and cows at the market. She has been in this business for the last 10 years. Her customers are the local residents. With the Ksh. 40,000, she intends to buy more goats and cows to expand her business. She describes her major challenge to be transportation, and aspires to open a shop in future. She joined Yehu so as to get some loans. Umazi owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
