Luminarda is a 63 years old widow and mother of three children. She lives in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, Philippines. Luminarda owns and operates a farm, where she plants and harvests rice to sell to earn a living. She has been in this business for five years. Each month, she earns PHP 10,000 doing this type of work. She requested a loan of PHP 25,000 to purchase fertilizers such as manure. In 2011, Luminarda joined GDMPC. In the future, she wants to make improvements to her house and to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
