I met Samuel F. Kamara at the school he teaches, St Francis Secondary School Makeni, to get a talk with him for the Kiva loan he received from SMT. On arrival; we immediately took a ride to the location where he is constructing his house to take a snap shot of him. If you make a comparison between his early photo and this one, you can see that Samuel has now laid the foundation for the house he is constructing.
As already mentioned, Samuel F. Kamara is a teacher of the St Francis Secondary School, Makeni. He received a loan from you some months ago. In addition to his monthly savings, which he had been saving for years, Samuel used the loan he received from you to buy twenty bags of cements, five trips of sand, three trips of ball stones, pay laborers and provided them with food. They constructed several bricks and laid the house’s foundation. This house he is building will consist of five bed rooms, a parlor, two toilets, a dinning room and a store. Samuel envisages finishing the construction of this house in two to three years time. Once he completed the construction, the house will be at an estimated value of Le 15,000,000 to Le 20,000,000 ($ 5,000 to $ 6,000).
Samuel relies heavily on loans from you and his meager salary to complete this building process. He has been in the teaching profession for twenty-two years now without making such an achievement. His salary alone could have not let him do such a great work. Samuel is married with five children between the ages of one and seventeen. He and his whole family are on rent and he wants to put an end to this within the next two or three years. But he depends heavily on your support in order to achieve this aim.
Samuel’s message to you reads: “I appreciate your effort. I want to tell you that your money did not go in vain. It came at the right time and I spent it wisely. My monthly salary alone could not have made me such an achievement. I thank you a lot.”
This new picture of Samuel was taken on top of his nearly laid foundation. I hope you enjoyed your journal update. Thanks for lending to SMT clients. Please continue lending to our clients.
